Rob Bell Returns To Blancpain Endurance Series With Gulf Racing UK

McLaren factory driver, Rob Bell, will contest the Blancpain Endurance Series with Gulf Racing UK for a second season, racing in a McLaren MP4 12C GT3 car. He will share the car with newcomers Adam Carroll and Nico Verdonck with the trio campaigning the Pro Class of the Series.

Bell is confident that he and his team mates can be one of the leading contenders for podiums and wins this season, saying, “We have a great driver line-up for 2013 and I’m looking forward to sharing the driving duties with Adam and Nico. Last season the team proved that the car has the pace to be a front-runner, so there is no reason why we can’t be mixing it up there at every round. I’ve built up a lot more experience of the car over the last 12 months and I hope to be able to make a valuable contribution to the development of the Gulf Racing UK McLaren MP4 12C GT3 as we prepare for the upcoming season.”

Bell continues, “The Blancpain Endurance Series is looking very competitive with an anticipated grid of over 40 cars for 2013, so it should be an exciting year ahead. It’s the strongest GT3 championship in the world with the best sportscar drivers and all the top marques, which makes for excellent racing.”

Bell has already confirmed that he will be racing in the Le Mans 24 Hours race with Aston Martin Racing this year, and he will be preparing for this outing with a one-off appearance with the team at the Spa-Francorchamps round of the World Endurance Championship in May.

Lancashire-based Bell says of his season ahead, “With five rounds of the Blancpain Endurance Series which includes the Spa 24 Hours race and a 1000 km at Nurburgring, Le Mans 24 Hours, the Spa WEC round and a busy testing and development programme with McLaren, I have a busy race schedule ahead. I am also continuing with my coaching commitments which I really enjoy and will be adding to the workload, with the imminent arrival of a new addition to my family.”

The team has been testing at Aragon’s Circuit of Navarra (Spain) this week and will continue a rigorous test programme ahead of the season opener, at Monza (Italy) on 12-to-14 April.
