After the gruelling opening race, which saw Holdsworth suffer blistered feet, today he had to drive through the pain. Fortunately he didn't suffer further injury as the team had but extra cooling and insulation in the peddle box area of the racecar.
After a tough qualifying session Holdsworth started the Erebus Motorsport Mercedes-Benz AMG E63 from the back row of the grid. He worked his way up the order and was the last driver to make his first stop while sitting in fifth place.
A long green flag period saw Holdsworth settle into a grove before a late Safety Car period bunched the field. The re-start caused some havoc in front of the IRWIN entry.
Holdsworth avoided the carnage to bring the car home and score valuable championship points.
The IRWIN Racing squad is next on track in two weeks time at the non-championship event as part of the Australian Formula One Grand Prix.
The team will use the event to further work on the development of the new car ahead of the next championship round in Tasmania in April.
