Grand-Am Of The Americas Draws Two-Day Attendance Of 26,648

Circuit of The Americas hosted its inaugural GRAND-AM of The Americas March 1-2 and drew a two-day attendance figure of 26,648.

Race fans enjoyed cool but sunny weather and unprecedented up-close access to teams and drivers throughout the weekend thanks to an open paddock, interactive fan experience zones and free pit lane walks before each of the GRAND-AM races.

It was no small coincidence that on Texas Independence Day, teams from the Lone Star State showed their prowess on-track. Dallas-based GAINSCO/Bob Stallings Racing took top honors in the Daytona Prototype division of the featured Rolex Sports Car Series with the No. 99 Corvette "Red Dragon," while Austin’s own CJ Wilson Racing took the first-place trophy in the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge’s Street Tuner class with its Mazda MX-5.

"This weekend provided a great introduction to American sports car racing for a very receptive crowd," Circuit President Steve Sexton said. "The GRAND-AM experience lived up to its reputation for being fun, family friendly, accessible and educational. We’re pleased so many race fans came out to enjoy a wonderfully entertaining weekend at our world-class venue."
