Pursley’s victory in Saturday’s Talking Stick Resort 60 at Phoenix International Raceway tied him with Richard Petty for Pro Series West victories at Phoenix, one short of the series-best four wins at the track by Ken Schrader.
Goodyear is the exclusive tire provider for the Pro Series West, the Pro Series East and the Canadian Tire Series. The Ohio-based tiremaker supplies tires from the same line of bias-ply Goodyear Eagles to all three series.
Pursley’s latest Phoenix victory required some work at the end of the 60-mile chase around the one-mile PIR racing venue. He led the first 49 laps before youngster Cameron Hayley took the lead for six laps. Pursley regained the top spot on lap 56 and held on to beat Hayley by .775 of a second.
Michael Self was third, followed by Derek Thorn and Sergio Pena.
Pursley’s pole-winning qualification speed, 133.949 mph, broke his own track record. He averaged 72.973 for the race distance.
Goodyear employs about 69,000 people at manufacturing plants and facilities in 22 nations. Based in Akron, Ohio, Goodyear is among the largest tiremakers in the world and is the worldwide leader in race tire innovation.
