The Killers To Stage First Concert In Singapore At The 2013 Formula 1 Singapore Grand Prix

Race and event promoter Singapore GP Pte Ltd announces its first Padang Stage headliner for this season’s edition of the 2013 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX with the Las Vegas alternative rock band THE KILLERS performing post-qualifying on Saturday, 21 September 2013.

The multi award-winning, multi-platinum band is set to ignite the Padang stage in their first ever concert in Singapore for one night only. Entry to the concert is included with any three-day 2013 FORMULA 1 SINGAPORE GRAND PRIX ticket.

In their first ten years together, THE KILLERS has earned a reputation as one of the world’s finest live bands and amassed a collection of BRIT, MTV, NME, Q, World Music and most recently ASCAP Awards (see Annex 1). Dubbed by Rolling Stone and MTV as the hottest band of 2005, THE KILLERS first blazed onto the Indie scene in 2003 with their hit ‘Mr. Brightside’.

Consisting of Brandon Flowers (lead vocals, keyboards), Dave Keuning (guitar, backing vocals), Mark Stoermer (bass, backing vocals) and Ronnie Vannucci Jr. (drums, percussion), the band has been a key player in the post-punk revival movement, drawing their influences from music styles of the 1980s.

Since then, they have a string of accolades to their name and their albums have made it to the Billboard 200 Albums of the Year charts for seven years. THE KILLERS have also been listed #3 by Amazon.com UK in the Top 10 best-selling artists and albums of the decade. Their four albums Hot Fuss, Sam's Town, Day & Age and Battle Born have sold over 15 million copies worldwide. They have become one of the world’s biggest rock and roll bands in the process and found themselves needing time to, as Flowers puts it, “put everything into perspective”.

After a year-long hiatus which saw three of four Killers launch solo careers, the band’s rapturous return headlining the inaugural Lollapalooza in Chile convinced them to get back together and write songs. Battle Born was the result, incorporating elements from each of the records that came before it – a mix of yearning mythic America, gratuitous hooks and pop nous. To borrow Flower’s maxim, “Doing what we do best”.

With the record in the can, the band is eager to get on the road and re-introduce THE KILLERS to the world. “I feel like there are a lot of live moments on this album, more than we’ve ever had before”, says Flowers.

This September, fans can look forward to a charged-up Saturday night as THE KILLERS rock Singapore’s biggest outdoor stage as part of their Battle Born World Tour with hits such as ‘Runaways’, ‘Mr. Brightside’, ‘Human’, ‘Somebody Told Me’, ‘All These Things That I’ve Done’ and ‘When You Were Young’.

Singapore GP will be announcing additional artistes in the coming weeks. For updates on the latest entertainment schedule, visit www.singaporegp.sg.
