Rookie Robert Bujdoso Returns To ARCA Competition In Alabama

Rookie Robert Bujdoso (“bouy-da-show”) will make his fourth career ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards start on Saturday in the ARCA Mobile 200 held at Mobile International Speedway in Alabama. Bujdoso once again joins Bowsher Motorsports in the No. 91 Checkered Express Ford.

Despite a relative lack of seat time, the karting champion has proven a quick study in the big cars, delivering three strong ARCA performances in which he scored three consecutive top-15 finishes. The effort also saw him claim the ‘Hard Charger Award’ in his ARCA debut at Toledo Speedway in 2011.

The No. 91 Ford, which was once Ricky Rudd’s Sprint Cup car, will run a Rhyne Competition Racing engine and Roush chassis as Bujdoso targets another strong outing in his first race start at the quick half-mile Alabama track.

Bujdoso’s last ARCA race start took place at the 2012 season-finale Kansas Speedway event in which he earned his best ARCA finish of 14th. But perhaps the most impressive moment of his race came late in the event when his quick reflexes behind the wheel of the 3,400–pound stock car saw him remarkably maneuver around two cars that had made contact directly ahead of him. The move garnered plenty of television time for the No. 91 Checkered Express Ford as the race broadcasters raved about the close encounter.

Bujdoso, who has yet to turn 20 years old, has been continuously working with the Ohio-based Bowsher Motorsports team over the off season in preparation for the Alabama event.

“It’s definitely been a long off season and I can’t wait to be reunited with the Bowsher team and the No. 91 Checkered Express Ford down in Alabama,” said Bujdoso, who also won his fifth consecutive national karting championship last year. “I’ve been doing a lot of iRacing in preparation for the race and I know the Bowsher guys have been working really hard on the car so I’m excited to see what we can do this weekend. We’ve had some good outings together so far and hopefully we add another one on Saturday.”

Bowsher Motorsports is one of the most experienced and successful teams in the ARCA paddock. With over 80 victories spanning five decades, Bowsher Motorsports is the winningest team in ARCA history.

Bujdoso has made two ARCA starts with Bowsher Motorsports and the pairing proved a successful combination at the Chicagoland and Kansas events. Bujdoso qualified 14th among the 34-car Chicagoland grid and went on to finish 15th in the race. The group followed up that effort with Bujdoso scoring a career-best 14th place result in last year’s Kansas season-finale.

The ARCA Mobile 200 event begins on Friday with practice and qualifying (8:00 PM ET). The 200-lap, 100-mile race will begin at 3:00 PM (ET) on Saturday.
