Dams GP2 Series, GP2 Pre-Season Testing In Barcelona 2013
DAMS profitable for three days
Following the same route as the Formula 1, GP2 Series has continued its campaign of pre-season testing in Barcelona, after a first session in Jerez. The parallel is also extended in terms of climatic conditions, with two days in the rain and cold and a conclusion under the sun. Not ideal for creating benchmarks, but the DAMS team took advantage of these circumstances by working in the context of the season as a whole, without driving the clock at all costs. That did not prevent him from completing the three-day test with the second and fourth time.

The humid and very fresh on the circuit Catalan, at first, embarrassed pilots who have struggled to find the right grip. This led the team to change its program and to try new options. Knowing that, inevitably, rain disrupt some races in the season, DAMS has swept several solutions under these conditions. In the end, without trying to make time, it draws positives.
With the return of the sun on the last day, the team immediately confirmed its competitiveness, signing the second (Marcus Ericsson) and third (Stéphane Richelmi) lap of the morning, only separated in the late afternoon by the ex- DAMS driver Felipe Nasr. In the afternoon, precisely, was devoted to simulations run with the hard tires and soft. The overall balance of Barcelona this week is very good for the team and its drivers have collected critical information in the light of the season.
François Sicard, Director of DAMS: "We left Barcelona satisfied overall with our three days. Team cohesion between pilots but also pilots and engineers is already excellent. We just messed our program because of the rain, but we gain the benefits that appear later in the season. The performance is there as evidenced by the last day of the lap, the car is good and the drivers also. We look forward to attack the season in Malaysia in two weeks. '
Marcus Ericsson: "The season has gone extremely well with DAMS in Spain. Two weeks of tests have been very productive. We have accumulated a lot of information, we rode in very different conditions under the sun and rain and we are well prepared. Everyone in the team I was immediately put at ease and I already feel at home. I of course immediately with Stéphane, too, is a good guy and a very good driver. We will push each other and this will benefit the team. DAMS won the drivers' title the past two seasons so my role will be to extend the series. I'm ready, I have experience and I have the technical means with this team to fight for the title, which is my goal. Stéphane and we are well placed to defend the constructors' title as well. '
Stéphane Richelmi: "Signing with DAMS, I knew I was entering a highly structured and effective. Tests two weeks have amply confirmed. In Jerez we took advantage of good weather to garner a lot of miles and test a number of solutions for the most confirmed. I could make good lap, which put me at ease and facilitated my integration into the team. Engineers, mechanics, everyone creates an atmosphere that is both professional and friendly. In addition I found a very friendly crew - and fast. Between Marcus and me the feeling is gone now. He gives me advice and we really share our information. So I am confident for the season. I feel that I have the means to fight to the poles, podiums and maybe wins. I will, in any case, the best of myself to help DAMS to retain his title teams. '
First race: Malaysia (Sepang), 23-24 March.
