2013 JC Season Announcement

Following an interesting experience in the FIA WEC in 2012, Joël will be returning to a series that he has won twice (in 2007 with an Autorlando Porsche and in 2009 with the Trottet Ferrari) and where he has gathered various wins also in 2011, with JMB Racing. To date, Camathias is the only driver to have won twice the overall GT Open title.
On 14-15 March, Joël will be in Barcelona for the series’ pre-season collective test. The 2013 GT Open includes 8 rounds, of 2 races each, held on the most prestigious tracks around Europe. It is precisely on the Catalan track, at the final round of last season, that the Swiss drove for Ombra Racing in the GT Open for the first time, a debut that left him with an excellent impression about the team and his team mate.
Joël Camathias:
"I am happy to go back full time to the International GT Open, a championship that has established itself as one of the most competitive on the GT scene and that has brought me many satisfactions in the past. After a WEC campaign that has been very enriching last year, it will be like going back to the roots. I’ll be driving a Ferrari 458 again, though it will be a GT3 version, entered in the GTS class, the most closely-fought. Ombra Racing has shown excellent potential in its maiden GT Open season last year, and to work together with Mario Cordoni to ensure the team’s further growth is an exciting challenge. I am sure that we can do well."
