Renault 3.5 Testing At Le Castellet - Day 1 Draco Impress With Müller And Negrao

It's been an extremely positive day for Draco Racing at the French venue of Le Castellet, in Day 1 of the second round of collective Formula Renault 3.5 testing. Nico Müller and Andre Negrão left a strong impression both in the AM session, plagued by the rain, and in the PM segment, when better conditions enabled all the drivers to push their cars to the limit.

With the wet asphalt, Müller and Negrão took full advantage of an extremely balanced set-up and stayed at the front throughout the morning session. In the closing stages, right before the lunch break scheduled at 1 PM, the asphalt improved and some of the contenders were able to pass both Nico and Andre while the Draco stable decided to save their tires.

In the afternoon, after reverting to dry set-ups, the team focused on a particular program aimed at setting-up shocks. Müller and Negrão pushed hard as the session approached its completion and ended up respectively in 5th (1'47"185) and 6th place (1'47"240), just four tenths of a second off the frontrunner's best mark.

Negrão: "During the morning segment the car handled great with the rain. I was constantly able to fight for the top spots and this afternoon, in the second session, the sixth place we scored is proof that we're following the right direction.Unfortunately, a flat tire meant we couldn't take full advantage from our sets. On the other hand, during the afternoon I decided to save a one of them for tomorrow."

Müller: "I think we managed to set-up a very driveable car on the wet and it also proved very reactive with the dry. The fifth place scored when the checkered fell could have been improved further and that's great news. We still have to perfect a couple of aspects but we know the direction we need to follow and we will see the results tomorrow".
