Hickory Motor Speedway's 2012 Limited Late Model Champion Shane Lee picked up where he left off last season as he took home the victory in the season's first 30-lap feature at the famed track Saturday night.

It was Shane's 11th feature win at the track and it made him feel nothing but good. "All the credit goes to Dexter (Canipe, Shane's Crew Chief) and my team for giving me a car that was spot on," he said. "Landon (Huffman) and I battled for about five laps before I was able to pull away a bit. He's a good racer and he races you clean. The car was good all night and I'm excited to be able to start the year off with a win."
Shane also made his debut in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model division on Saturday, where he started 19th and finished 12th after having to make a couple of pit stops to make minor repairs following an early race skirmish that involved several cars.
"We had to start 19th because I messed up in qualifying," Shane said. "Then we had an oil cap come off one of the valve covers and it was spraying oil all over my tires and windshield. We also got some minor front end damage when a guy up ahead spun and I just got into the car in front of me when everyone checked up. We had to pit a couple of times to fix these things but we were determined to finish if we could and we ended up 12th. I learned a lot and that will help us going forward. We'll race both cars again this coming Saturday at Hickory and we hope all of our fans will come out again to support us!"
