To get students excited about math and science, Auto Club Speedway, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools and several educational partners including state and local colleges are offering over 500 middle students from local Inland Empire schools the opportunity to spend the day listening to speakers and participating in activities and demonstrations.

Speakers will include Gillian Zucker, President of Auto Club Speedway, Dr. Gary Thomas, San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools, NHRA driver Antron Brown and others.

In addition to speakers, students will observe and participate in a series of hands-on activities demonstrating how math and science concepts are used in the sport of racing. The demonstrations will include learning about Force vs. Height, Gas Laws, Distance vs. Time, and Friction.

To end their day at Auto Club Speedway, the students will see math and science concepts in action by attending the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series practice session for NASCAR’s NNS Royal Purple 300.

Educational partners teaming up with Auto Club Speedway include: Alliance for Education; Chaffey College; Ontario-Montclair School District; San Bernardino Community College District; San Bernardino County Superintendent of Schools – ROP; and ALPHA Center, MESA Program, and Tomorrow’s Teachers of Science & Math at University of California, Riverside.
