Hodge edged out Underbelly: Badness star Jonathan LaPaglia and Scottish Olympic cycling legend Sir Chris Hoy in an exciting qualifying session today at Albert Park.
Hodge, LaPaglia and Hoy traded places throughout the session, with all three spending time on pole, before the session was shortened after Anthony 'Lehmo' Lehmann went into the wall at turn 12.
Lehmo, who qualified ninth, was on his fourth flying lap when he got a tap from Neighbours star Scott McGregor turning him around into the wall.
Only minutes before, designer Wayne Cooper went off at turn three and got stranded in the sand.
The leading female in qualifying was Australia's Olympic hero Anna Meares who finished in eighth place, ahead of singer Vanessa Amorosi who placed 12th.
The Mazda6 Celebrity Challenge continues tomorrow with the first race of the weekend.
Driver Quotes
What Brad Hodge had to say?
"It's a great feeling, I just tried to do exactly what (Mark) Skaife said, keep in control. It's been great fun, what a great circuit and a great atmosphere. We are all having a ball out there. It's good to be starting at the front, I hope I can stay out of trouble, which is pretty much the idea at turn one at Albert Park - especially with the big boys breathing down my neck."
What Jonathan LaPaglia had to say?
"Second place feels excellent but I hope this is not a curse and goes downhill from here, I hope I can keep it up. It feels great; it's been an incredible week. We have an amazing bunch of people and the camaraderie has really developed amongst everyone. There is also an impressive level of sportsmanship as well - especially with the Olympic Gold Medallists who have a very different psyche going on."
What Lehmo had to say?
"My motto from the start has been win or crash and I have achieved that. I'm hanging to see the vision. I hope it looked good, it's all about looking good in this game. I was coming down that back straight and thought I was well clear of Scott (McGregor), he then whacked my rear end and I've spun around into the wall and smashed up the front of the Mazda6. It's doesn't look too healthy. I believe there is a spare car, hopefully I can jump in that one tomorrow."
