DOUBLE WINNER HEADS EXCITING ERC CANARIAS ENTRY
Jan Kopecký will be chasing a hat-trick of wins when he heads the exciting entry for the 37th Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés next week.

The ŠKODA Motorsport driver, who snatched a last-gasp victory on the thrilling FIA European Rally Championship season-opener in Austria back in January, triumphed on the Spanish asphalt event in 2010 and 2012 in a Fabia Super 2000.

Czech driver Kopecký is one of 17 ERC runners on the 30-car entry, which marks the first time this season that a significant number of ERC regulars will be in action on the same event.

Peugeot Rally Academy's Craig Breen (207 S2000) is seeded number two with Stohl Racing's Daniel Oliveira the third seed in a Brazil World Rally Team Ford Fiesta RRC. Local hero and event promoter Luis Monzón is seeded four in a MINI John Cooper Works RRC with Formula One race winner Robert Kubica the fifth seed for his ERC debut in a Citroën DS3 RRC.

Antonín Tlusťák represents the GPD Mit Metal Racing Team, currently first in the ERC Teams' Championship classification, with Subaru's Andreas Aigner and Team Renault Sport Technologies duo Germain Bonnefis and Robert Consani set to fight for ERC Production Car Cup glory.

Zoltán Bessenyey (Eurosol-Honda Civic Type R) and Hermann Neubauer will battle Island regulars Enrique García Ojeda and Joan Vinyes in the FIA ERC 2WD Championship. The full entry list is available by clicking here.

TOP FEMALE DUO PLAN LADIES' TROPHY CHASE
The FIA ERC Ladies' Trophy begins on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés from 21-23 March with two drivers eligible for points. A new initiative for 2013, the Ladies' Trophy will be contested on all remaining rounds of the ERC with points award to the first three female finishers on each event regardless of car performance.

Bulgaria's Ekaterina Stratieva (pictured), the top-scoring female driver in last year's ERC, will take part in a Citroën C2 R2 with Canary Islander Emma Falcón competing in a Ford Fiesta R2. Although Falcón's programme beyond next week's asphalt event is unconfirmed, Stratieva hopes to tackle several ERC rounds subject to funding.

NEW SPONSOR FOR POLAND'S ERC COUNTER
Rally Poland, which hosts round 10 of the FIA European Rally Championship from 13-15 September has secured title sponsorship from Polish oil company Lotos. The agreement between Lotos Group and PZM, Poland's motorsport federation, will result in the event's name changing to Lotos 70th Rally Poland, or Lotos 70 Rajd Polski in Polish. As the numerical reference suggests, the all-gravel event based in Mikołajki is one of the longest established rallies in the world. It has been a mainstay of the ERC for several seasons.

YOKOHAMA PARTNERSHIP EXCITES STOHL
Yokohama will begin its 2013 FIA European Rally Championship in Gran Canaria next week with Stohl Racing chief Manfred Stohl excited at the prospect of working with the tyre firm once again.

The companies enjoyed a successful partnership in 2011, which is being rekindled for this season when Andreas Aigner embarks on a six-event ERC Production Car Cup campaign in a Stohl-run Subaru Impreza R4 STI.

"We have a good relationship from before and have some good data," said Stohl. "Last year there were many, many improvements and I am happy with the adjustments Yokohama are doing. The speed they had with the tyre in Cyprus last year was very impressive and we are confident that this will continue."

CANARIAS TREE PLANTING EVENT IS GO
Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés organisers have confirmed details of tree planting event in Gran Canaria this Sunday (17 March). Part of a campaign to promote environmental sustainability, organisers are calling on drivers, co-drivers and team personnel, that have arrived in advance of the FIA European Rally Championship round taking place from 21-23 March, to support the initiative. Transportation to the tree-planting event is available from the Santa Catalina Park between 10:30-11:00hrs.

TOP IRISH PAIRING REUNITE FOR CANARIAS ERC ROUND
Craig Breen will resume his partnership with Paul Nagle when he tackles round three of the FIA European Rally Championship in Gran Canaria next week.

Breen was co-driven by fellow Irishman David Moynihan to an impressive second place on his ERC debut in Latvia in early February. But with countryman Nagle available once again, Breen will switch navigators for the asphalt rally from 21-23 March, which is in addition to his original eight-round schedule.

"It's a great opportunity to do an extra rally," said Breen, who is campaigning a Peugeot Rally Academy-Saintéloc 207 Super 2000. "This will be my first go at it but my co-driver, Paul, has been there before and he has a great deal of good to say about it."

IN THE SPOTLIGHT: GERMAIN BONNEFIS
Germain Bonnefis is better known for his exploits on gravel having won the French Gravel title in 2012. However, it will be asphalt events only for the young French star when he embarks on a seven-event FIA European Rally Championship campaign in a Team Renault Sport Technologies Mégane Renaultsport N4, starting on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés. Bonnefis, who will be co-driven by Olivier Fournier, is no stranger to international competition having excelled on a one-off Intercontinental Rally Challenge appearance on Rally San Marino last July.
