2013 Australia GP: Formula One F1 Practice One Results - Vettel, Red Bull Fastest!
By PaddockTalk.com Staff Writers
The Formula One F1 series has completed practice session one for the 2013 Australian Grand Prix on the streets of Melbourne, Australia. Leading the way was three-time Formula One F1 world champion Sebastian Vettel and his No. 1 Red Bull entry with a lap of 1:27.2.
Second quick was Felipe Massa and his Ferrari with a lap of 1:27.2. Massa finished the 2012 season strong, after nearly losing his seat in the view of many in the paddock.
Third fastest was two-time world champion Fernando Alonso (Ferrari) with a lap of 1:27.5 followed by Lewis Hamilton (Mercedes) and Mark Webber (Red Bull).
Kimi Raikkonen (Lotus-Renault) was sixth quick followed by Nico Rosberg (Mercedes), Adrian Sutil (Force India-Mercedes), Jenson Button (McLaren-Mercedes), and Romain Grosjean (Lotus-Renault).
The running was dry with one car spinning into the gravel, and then safely departing - Paul di Resta.
For fans who enjoy tracking the traffic on track using the official Formula One F1 website timing and scoring, the session was a disaster. Formula One failed to provide what is consider a staple for fans. FOM did not respond to questions regarding the failure.
More disappoint for fans was the lack of LIVE streaming in the United States from the new broadcasting partner. Even, the pathetic Speed channel was providing video of the practice sessions not televised LIVE.
Next up for the Formula One F1 series will be practice session two in two and a half hours.
