“I’m very happy that Kamui is a member of our family – said Amato Ferrari, team principal of AF Corse team -. He is a young driver but very promising who, even though having never driven a GT before, proved himself to be very fast during the first tests. Over the course of the next few weeks, we will hold further sessions so that Kamui can become more confident in the car that he will drive in the world championship”.

Kamui was born in 1986 in Amagasaki and made his Formula 1 debut on 18 October 2009 for Toyota, in his home race, in Japan. Driving for Toyota and Sauber, Kobayashi took part in 60 Grands Prix: he scored a total of 125 points and his best result was a podium finish in the 2012 Japanese Grand Prix. The AF Corse team has gained several successes in the most important international championships, among which there are the 2012 victories of the FIA WEC and in the 24 Hours of Le Mans (GTE Pro category).
