Bryan Ortiz Bristol-Bound With Nike And Toyota

Bryan Ortiz returns to Bristol Motor Speedway, the site of his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut last season, to kick off his 2013 campaign for the division championship. The second-year driver out of Bayamon, Puerto Rico will be piloting Rev Racing's No. 4 Toyota Camry, adorned for this race by Nike and Toyota.

The 62.5-mile event (125 laps) takes place Saturday, March 16 following the conclusion of the NASCAR Nationwide Series race. In his qualifying session Thursday afternoon Ortiz timed in with the seventh-fastest average speed of the day (119.753 miles per hour). For his effort, he will start Saturday's race in the seventh-place position.

Bryan Ortiz, on Nike and Toyota... "I couldn't be more honored to have two amazing partners - Nike and Toyota - with us for this weekend. Two of the biggest, most recognizable brands in the world are helping our effort to win a championship and it means a great deal.

Bryan Ortiz, on Bristol and the start of the 2013 season... "Even though we were at Daytona a few weeks ago, in my mind, this is when the season really begins. Bristol was very fun last year and it's a place at which I would love to win - because of its history and prestige. It's also important for us to get off to a fantastic start. We saw last year's championship decided based on who made the fewest mistakes. This is a race we don't want to get away from us."

Last outing... Ortiz, driving the No. 4 Putinka Vodka Toyota, finished third in the UNOH Battle at the Beach, an exhibition event for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series at Daytona International Speedway. The finish tied his previous best finish (third) that came at Bowman Gray Stadium in June 2012.

Return to Thunder Valley... The 24-year-old Ortiz was making his first K&N East start the last time he visited Bristol Motor Speedway. Driving from a 33rd-place starting spot to a 14th-place finish, it served as a launching pad for the rest of his 14-race season. He never finished lower than 14th in completed races the remainder of the year.

WHO IS BRYAN ORTIZ?

Bryan Ortiz is a 24-year-old NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driver from Bayamon, Puerto Rico, who is in his third season with Rev Racing.

He captured back-to-back Formula Renault championships in 2004 and 2005 and, in 2010, was selected as an ESPN Deportes Magazine "NEXT" cover athlete. He competed in Grand-Am's Rolex Series and Koni Challenge Series and in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series before moving to the K&N East.
