Eric Curran Joins David Calvert-Jones And Lawson Aschenbach In No 99 Competition Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 For Today’s 12 Hours Of Sebring
Top American road racing talent Eric Curran will join David “CJ” Calvert-Jones and Lawson Aschenbach at the wheel of the No. 99 Competition Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 for today’s 12 Hours of Sebring, replacing four-time Sebring winner Sascha Maassen who was forced to withdraw due to an illness.

“Sascha was with us all week, and did the majority of our pre-race testing and prep work with Lawson, but started feeling pretty bad the last day or two,” Calvert-Jones said. “Nothing major, but he got bit by same bug that has knocked a lot of people out of circulation at Sebring this week and, unfortunately, it knocked him out of the race for us.”
Curran, who is teammates with Aschenbach at CKS Autosport in the GRAND-AM Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge, also drives a Corvette C6 in the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series with Boris Said as his co-driver. He just stopped in to see friends and colleagues earlier this week at Sebring when he was pressed into service.
“Happy to be in the 12 Hours of Sebring with CJ and Lawson but feel for Sascha who came a long way only to have to step down,” Curran said. “I know he has won this race many times and I will try to fill his shoes as best I can. The team let me drive the entire warm up and our Porsche feels good.”
Curran, who clocked in with the sixth fastest GTC lap time in this morning’s warm up, was not even close to being prepared to drive this week. He purchased a new pair of driving shoes at the track, is wearing Maassen’s driving suit and borrowed a helmet from Flying Lizard principal Seth Neiman, who is not competing today.
Support for No. 99 Competition Motorsports Porsche 911 GT3 comes from Blundstone Boots, Footwear & Accessories, Gibson Freight, doddle, OMP, JRZ Suspension Engineering and Essentia Super Hydrating Water.
