Stanton's Bid For Sebring Victory Comes To A Stop In Final Hour Of The Race
The final hour of the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring saw the no. 66 TRG Porsche leading the GT-Challenge class with a slim lead ahead of Porsches from Alex Job Racing and Flying Lizard Motorsports.

On the back of strong stints by Craig Stanton as well as his teammates Ben Keating and Damien Faulkner, the no. 66 TRG Porsche held a narrow advantage in the incredibly competitive GT-Challenge race. After qualifying in fifth, the car had moved into the lead for the first time during sunset with Stanton behind the wheel. Once taken over by Faulkner to take the car to the checkered, the no. 66 TRG Porsche had consolidated its lead and appeared to be headed to a class victory - which would have been Stanton's first at Sebring.
However, brake failure caused the car to fall from the lead but would be a lack of fuel that caused the car to grind to a halt on the final lap of the race. After leading the GT-C class during most of the closing stages of the Mobil 1 12 Hours of Sebring, the car would ultimately finish in fifth position. While disappointed, Stanton - who was upbeat as ever - still had a smile on his face.
"Everyone at TRG did such an incredible job," said Stanton. "Ben and Damien drove so well. Ben was definitely the fastest of the gentlemen drivers in the field and never put a wheel wrong. And Damien drove like a total pro. He was super-fast every time he was in the car and did a great job in the final hour with the brake issues we were having. I really enjoyed my two stints at the wheel. The car was great, it was everything you could expect from a TRG Porsche. I'm really thankful to have been a part of it and to have had a chance to win."
Stanton will join Keating and Faulkner for one more race this season, at Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta in Braselton, Georgia. With the missed opportunity for victory in Sebring, Stanton already has his focus firmly set on the ALMS season finale.
"It is really disappointing to see a win at Sebring slip away at the end like that," said Stanton. "I really wanted to stand on the top of the podium, and I know Ben, Damien, and everyone at TRG wanted the same thing. But we know that this car and driver lineup can win against this really competitive field. We'll just need a little bit more luck at Petit Le Mans but we can definitely win there. It's a long time from now but I'll be working hard every day to help them get that win."
