Shane Lee Second And Fourth At Hickory

Defending Hickory Motor Speedway Limited Late Model Champion Shane Lee finished second in the Limited division feature on Saturday and also scored a competitive fourth place finish in the 100-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model main.

Shane qualified third for the 35-lap Limited feature and found the competition extra stout in the early going. He and Landon Huffman put on a show for the fans as they raced for third in the closing stages of the event before Shane finally got past the No. 75 and crossed the line in third.

Winner Monte Cox was DQ'd in post-race technical inspection so Jeremy Pelfrey was given the win so that moved Shane to second place in the final tally.

"We basically just got a bad set of tires," Shane said of the Limited race. "There really isn't much you can do and it happens to everyone in the class at one time or another. The car was just way too loose from the center off. Racing with Landon was fun. He's a good driver and races you clean."

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series Late Model division was extra-competitive on Saturday night and the drivers did a fantastic job to race from start to finish with no caution flags.

Shane started fourth in the Late Model and was running right with the leaders early in the going. Then Shane had a brush with the wall that could have been much worse but it had its effect on the rest of his race.

"The car was really good until I tagged the wall and bent the track bar a bit," Shane confirmed. "That made it loose and I had to back off a bit. We are definitely getting closer. It was a really good night overall. I have to thank my family, my team and my sponsors because it's not easy running two cars a night and everyone works really hard."

This weekend Shane will travel to Myrtle Beach Speedway in Myrtle Beach, S.C. for a doubleheader with the Limited Late Model. "We'll be running the race that got rained out last fall on Friday and the scheduled Spring Challenge race for that division on Saturday."
