Draco Racing Press Release, Test Renault 3.5 - Muller And Draco Hit The Top-5
The Catalunyan sun welcomed Team Draco as they approached the final collective test before the start of the 2013 Formula Renault 3.5 season. At Circuit de Catalunya in Montmelò, Nico Müller and André Negrão experienced a day of polar opposites. The Swiss racer completed 72 laps and clocked the 5th fastest laptime of the day (1'29"458) by using his second set of new tires during the afternoon segment. In the morning session, he had ended up in 9th with a best mark of 1'30"105. His progression proved quite impressive as the great work done by the team and driver produced steady progress in terms of set-ups. Only a minor exhaust issue, promptly fixed by the team, went on the record in the PM session.

Negrão suffered from several issues. In the first session, he ended up off-track after 16 laps, damaging both the front and rear end of his car and having to sit out while the car was undergoing the needed repairs. In the afternoon, he was stopped by a fuel pump issue. Negrão logged 38 laps throughout the day and did not take full advantage of his new tires, scoring a best laptime of 1'30"474.
Nico Müller: "In the afternoon session we faced a mechanical issue due to a broken exhaust and that slowed us down quite a bit. We also did some set-up testing in the morning but then reverted back to the same configuration of Alcaniz which provided good results, as demonstrated by the 5th fastest laptime scored in the afternoon. With the first set of new tire I struggled a little in traffic and therefore I decided to go with the second one. For the first time this season, we had a dry track all-day long and some decent weather conditions that will be similar to the ones we expect for the start of the season".
André Negrão: "I made a mistake this morning and lost control of my car, going offtrack in turn three. As a result, I damaged both the front and the rear end of the car. Unfortunately, after the team promptly repaired the damage, I was stopped by an oil pump failure before putting new tires on. In the end I logged just 38 laps and I hope for better luck tomorrow in order to regain the ground lost today".
