Antonelli Shines In Spanish Sun
With sunshine, warm temperatures and a dry track Niccolò Antonelli was able to make the most of the final full day of preseason testing at Jerez today to demonstrate his undoubted potential despite still not having fully recovered from a recent shoulder operation. After taking a few laps to build up his confidence the youngster increased his pace to end the day amongst the pacesetters and as the fastest Italian on track. His team-mate Lorenzo Baldassarri continued his positive adaptation to the Moto3 class, meanwhile, improving his feeling with the bike and closing the gap to the top. Just half a day of preseason testing remains tomorrow, when the forecast is also for good weather.

Niccolò Antonelli “I am happy. I was planning to push hard today even though I am not in perfect shape but I didn't think I would go this fast. I could have gone even faster if it wasn't for a mistake on my final fast lap at the end of the session but I am satisfied. The new 2013 engine is good even though it's to be expected that we need to work on it before it reaches its full potential as it has different characteristics to last year's version. I have full confidence in the team that we can make the most of the last few hours of preseason remaining and make even more improvements tomorrow.”
Lorenzo Baldassarri “I am gradually feeling better on the bike. I have made important progress here and if we had used the soft tyre today I could have been even closer to the top guys. Now we have a good feeling with the bike and the team are working well to find the right setting and balance for the bike. Tomorrow we have a few hours to get some more work done and hopefully improve again.”
