Michela Cerruti Set To Face Tough New Challenge At Monza
A new and demanding challenge will start this weekend at Monza for Michela Cerruti. The Italian-based female racer will make her debut in the FIA European F.3 Championship aboard a Dallara 312-Mercedes fielded by Team Romeo Ferraris. Cerruti is set for a learning season in an extremely competitive and high-quality environment. The championship format features two sessions of free practice, two qualifying sessions and three races for each round.

How does it feel being just hours away from a championship debut at your home racetrack, Monza?
"I have to admit that I'm very excited, as always happens when a new cycle begins. I've always scored good results and enjoyed great moments at Monza like when I won the Superstars Series race in 2011. I find the track's layout very fascinating and it will be the first time that I will be racing there with an openwheel car. I look forward to see what happens when 30 open-wheel cars attack the first corner!"
What do you expect from your FIA European F.3 debut?
"It's going to be a learning experience. Unfortunately, the test we had at the start of the week at Monza did now allow us the tracktime we needed because an entire day of activity was canceled due to snow. Both the team and I are making our series debut, and we're aware that there's still a lot of work in front of us to trim the gap from the front of the pack. Friday's practice will be key for us to finalize our set-up and try to make a step forward. We haven't set goals for this weekend except from building some much-needed experience."
How's your first impression of the series?
"I knew that this was going to be a very competitive season, but now that I got a first taste of it, I reckon that the overall quality level of the European F.3 championship is much higher than I expected. As most insiders say, this is one of the most demanding series at international level and the driver line-up is stunning. The charts speak by themselves. Most part of the field has been covered by minimal gaps at Barcelona and Monza. I will also have to learn new tracks like the Norisring streetcourse in Nuremberg, Brands Hatch, the Nurburgring and Zandvoort, but all these new experiences will be very important for my future."
It will be a very big challenge for you…
"Definitely, and I like this kind of challenges. The toughest, the better!"
