Daytona Pole-Sitter Heads To Martinsville Looking For First Win At A Track Where He Feels At Home

Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender Brennan Newberry will return to Martinsville Speedway in his No. 14 Fight for Life Chevrolet Silverado, exactly one year later from his first start in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS). Veteran crew chief Eddie Pardue will climb atop the pit box to help the rookie navigate the tight corners of this half-mile just as he did in Daytona where the No. 14 team took the pole.

Sponsor Spotlight: With the impressive start to the 2013 season including all of the media coverage from Daytona, Fight for Life decided to jump on board the No. 14 Chevrolet Silverado as the trucks roll into Martinsville Speedway. Newberry will pilot the Fight for Life truck while looking for his first win in the NCWTS.

Shiny Silverado: The No. 14 Fight for Life team will roll chassis NTS001 off the hauler this Saturday at Martinsville Speedway for the Kroger 250. Over the break the NTS team worked to rebuild this chassis specifically for this race.

Newberry’s Martinsville Reunion:

"I’m super excited to come back to Martinsville Speedway this year as it marks exactly one year since I made my debut in the truck series. I’m surrounded by the best people and equipment in the garage, and it will be fun to see how it compares to last year. I have a lot of experience to draw from with Kevin (Harvick) and Ron (Hornaday) as teammates, but they sure set the bar pretty high at Martinsville."

"We are coming into the race behind in points but with the off season preparation and teammate experience, I’m going to just focus and race my race. It will take patience. Growing up on short tracks I know what it takes but sometimes it is hard to actually make it to the end. I hope to keep the fenders on the Fight for Life Chevy and bring home a great finish for NTS Motorsports."

Eddie’s Expectations:

"We prepared this truck the same as we would for any other driver, even with a rookie in the seat. At Martinsville, it is important to have a truck that is competitive, be able to run all of the laps and make it to the finish. As a new team we did a lot of testing to prepare for that and now we are just going to go out, run our own race and see what we can learn."

Catch the Race: Coverage of the Kroger 250 can be seen live on SPEED, Saturday, April 6, 2013, at 1:30 p.m. ET. MRN and Sirius Satellite radio (Channel 90) will broadcast from green to checkered flag.

And now what you didn’t know: As Martinsville Speedway is world renowned for the famous Martinsville hotdogs Newberry is no stranger to them as well. Newberry’s hauler is equipped every race with its own hot dog machine so the driver and crew can feel more at home when at the racetrack. It also provides a quick and easy snack for all.
