99 Wins and Counting for Target … The Target Racing program, which began with Target and Chip Ganassi Racing in 1990, is just one win shy of the 100-win plateau. The first win for the program came in 1994 with Michael Andretti’s Indy car victory at Surfers Paradise, Australia when the team was just a two-car open wheel program. The partnership between Target and Chip Ganassi Racing is one of the longest consecutive team partnerships in motor racing history.

Chopper Knowledge: The fuselage of the first Bell Helicopter was made partly of plywood beams. The rotor blades were a composite of fir and balsa wood with a steel reinforcement bar down the leading edge.

Jpmontoya – “Something really cool in the @Target car this weekend is the blue wheels to support Novo Nordisk Takeover campaign. #RWIunites”

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 Bell Helicopter Team

Martinsville Recap: McMurray was cautiously optimistic from the onset of the STP Gas Booster 500 about being a contender for the 500-lap race, and his strong Race With Insulin Chevy SS did not disappoint. After starting 13th, the team made an early pit stop under the first caution of the day and dropped back to the 35th-position. On the ensuing restart McMurray quickly made-up for the lost track-position racing back into the top-10 by lap 50. Following a late caution, crew chief Kevin “Bono” Manion, made a decision to not pit and gained valuable track position allowing McMurray to wheel the No. 1 Race With Insulin Chevy SS home to a seventh-place finish.

McMurray at Texas Speedway: McMurray will make his 19th NSCS start at Texas Motor Speedway this weekend. In his previous 18 starts at the 1.5-mile track, the driver of the No. 1 Chevrolet has led 70 laps, earning three top-five and six top-10 finishes. He has an average start and finish of 24.8 and 17.8, respectively. McMurray’s highest starting position of fourth came in the fall of 2008 and his highest finishing position of second came in the spring of 2005.

Intermediate Track Stats: McMurray has made 180 career NSCS starts on intermediate tracks (one to two-miles in length), he has accumulated two wins (Charlotte, 2002, 2010), 20 top-fives, 47 top-10s and has led 157 laps.

Going Vertical: Bell Helicopter will be featured as the primary sponsor on the No. 1 Chevrolet SS this weekend at Texas Motor Speedway. Founded in 1935 as Bell Aircraft Corporation, Bell Helicopter sets the pace for the industry and expands the scope of vertical lift. An industry leader with unmatched name recognition, Bell Helicopter was the first to obtain certification for a commercial helicopter. Over its rich history, Bell Helicopter has delivered more than 35,000 aircraft to customers around the world. Headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, Bell Helicopter has additional plants in Amarillo, Texas and Mirabel, Canada, with key logistics supply and service centers in Europe, Canada, and Singapore as well as in the United States. Bell Helicopter is the world’s premier provider of vertical lift aircraft.

Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 Target Team

Martinsville In The Rear View Mirror: The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series returned to action after the first off-weekend of the 2013 season. Teams were at Martinsville Speedway for their second short track race on the schedule. Juan Pablo Montoya qualified the No. 42 Target Chevy SS in the 14th-position and was running up in the top-10 when a flat tire forced an unexpected visit to pit road. The team would finish the day with a 26th-place finish

Montoya at Texas: Montoya has made 12 NSCS starts at Texas Motor Speedway, leading 12 laps and accumulating two top-10 finishes. He has an average starting position of 16.3 and an average finishing position of 23.5 at the 1.5-mile track. His best starting position of third came in the fall of 2007, while his highest finishing position came in April 2009, when the No. 42 Chevrolet crossed the line in seventh.

A Glance at the Intermediate Tracks: Montoya has 107 starts at tracks one to two-miles in length with two poles, nine top-five and 17 top-10 finishes. He has led 348 laps and currently has an average starting position of 20.5 and finishing position of 20.7.

Kellogg`s Front And Center: The No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS will feature partner, Kellogg’s on their car this weekend as a major associate sponsor. Kellogg’s joined the race program three years ago and is displayed on all three Target Racing teams throughout the season. Last year they took their relationship off the track as all of Chip Ganassi Racing Team (CGRT) drivers were featured on select Kellogg’s products sold exclusively at Target stores.
