Brandon Jones No 33 UARA Post-Race Report:Rockingham Speedway

Brandon Jones, driver of the No. 33 Rheem Turner Scott Motorsports Chevrolet, visited the one-mile oval of Rockingham Speedway for the matinée event. With two practice sessions on Friday, Jones and the Rheem crew went to work on a race setup for the 75-lap event. After a solid top-10 qualifying effort, Jones backed up the effort with a respectable seventh place finish, earning his third top-10 finish of the season at Rockingham Speedway.

The Rheem Turner Scott Motorsports team and the UARA-STARS made their annual trip down to Rockingham Speedway. Having to wait out weather on Friday morning, the rain finally cleared out of the Rockingham, North Carolina area, and the UARA-Stars took to the track for their two practice sessions. After the first session, Jones was perched in 18th place on the speed charts. With room for improvement, Jones and the Rheem team set out to find some speed for their Chevrolet between practice sessions. The Turner Scott Motorsports team found a successful setup, and Jones finished final practice in ninth.

After a solid qualifying effort on Saturday morning, Jones rolled off the grid in the 9th-starting position for the 75-lap event. When the green flag dropped, Jones went into race strategy mode and conserved his tires as he dropped outside the top 10 during the first half of the race. During the second half of race, which had several long green-flag runs, Jones began making his charge towards the front. In the race's closing laps, Jones worked his way up back into the top 10 and earned a seventh-place finish.

"I felt like we learned a lot as a team this weekend at Rockingham Speedway," said Turner Scott Motorsports driver Brandon Jones. "We struggled a little during practice, but the crew didn't give up and we found a great setup that gave us another top-10 run. I am looking forward to going to Richmond for my next NASCAR K&N race."
