Dodge/RCH Racing - SX 'Keys for Success' - Round 15 - Seattle

Each race weekend, Dodge provides insight on the ‘Keys for Success’ for the upcoming Monster Energy AMA Supercross Series race. This week, Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki lead mechanic Tony Berluti provides the keys for tonight’s race at CenturyLink Field in Seattle.

Trivia Question: Dodge/RCH Racing’s Broc Tickle earned his first professional Supercross win at the 2010 SX Lites West race in Seattle. Who joined Tickle on the podium? (Answer Below)?

TONY BERLUTI (Lead Mechanic, No. 20 Broc Tickle Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki RM-Z450)

Stay Up: “It continues to rain off and on here today. The first practice went well, just the start-straight was a little gnarly. With the rain coming down after the first timed practice, it’s going to get greasy now. The base of the track is really hard and it’s going to get greasy. A big key for tonight is to stay up on the bike. Some bikes are going to hit the dirt tonight. You need to have a good start and really pay attention.”

Throttle Control: “You have to pay attention to throttle control. It’s a tight course; it’s almost like an Arenacross track because it’s so tight. Throttle control is so important and the guy that has a handful of throttle is going to have problems for sure.”

Tire Selection: “We’ve run kind of a medium rear (tire) and a hard-packed front (tire). The problem with some guys is that they’re so stuck on one tire that they have a hard time adjusting to change. If you don’t pick the right tire and it doesn’t clean out and it builds up mud on it, you’re going to have problems and slip out. Tire choice is going to be critical.”

Ruts the Question: “The base of the track is hard as concrete. If it keeps raining before the Main Event, we could see some ruts. The track tonight has some clay in it and it’s pretty hard. I think some of the turns will get rutty but I don’t foresee the course rutting up too bad unless we get some major rain later.”

Trivia Answer: Tickle beat Wil Hahn by 4.608-seconds with Jake Weimer finishing third.
