Brett Hudson Partners With Ken Schrader Racing At Salem Speedway

It’s a family affair this weekend at Salem (Ind.) Speedway for ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards driver Brett Hudson.

The Owensboro, Kentucky native returns to the scene for Sunday’s Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200 presented by Crosley Radio, partnering with Ken Schrader Racing (KSR) for the third race of 2013 and his 12th trip to the historic high banks of the 0.5-mile paved oval.

Hudson is “giddy” about his return to Salem Speedway this weekend and by all accounts, he has every right to be. Not only is the team, the most recent winner at the Southern Indiana-based track, but the Kentuckian will also be able to work with his uncle, Donnie Richeson who will serve as crew chief of Hudson’s No. 52 Hudson Performance Drivelines Dodge Charger.

“I always look forward to Salem Speedway, but this weekend is a little different and I’m a little antsier to get things going,” said Hudson, who competed in the season-opening race at Daytona (Fla.) International Speedway in February. “We’re always very competitive at Salem, but to have my uncle making the calls at Salem is going to make it a memorable moment in my racing career.”

Even though Hudson and Richeson paired for an ARCA race together back in 2006 at Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway, this time it’s much different.

“He won last fall with Tom (Hessert) and I have a lot of success at Salem, so it’s a perfect-fit and really, a perfect situation,” Hudson sounded. “I’m hoping that with his guidance and direction, we can be in contention for a win on Sunday. It would be a big day for the family!”

Despite his enormous amount of experience at the treacherous short-track, recent finishes is something that has irritated Hudson. He hopes to change that tune on Sunday.

“Racers have places they love to go and Salem is one of those “sweet spots” for me,” offered Hudson, who has five top-10 finishes in 11 previous runs. “I’ve won some big races at the track, but nothing in ARCA, yet. We’re going to keep trying though, because I know it can happen. We tested last week and I thought it went really good and that helps my confidence.”

Keys for the race? Hudson explained, “You need to have tires for the last run and the place is huge on momentum. You need to have a good run out of (turn) two to carry down the backstretch into (turns) three and four. It’s a very entertaining race.”

As they’ve done for the past two seasons, the Brett Hudson Motorsports team will bring awareness to a big fan of theirs, Harlie Bryant. In 2011, the fellow Kentucky native was diagnosed with brain cancer and continues to fight her battle. The team will continue to spread her message of “hope and love.”

In addition to Hudson Performance Drivelines, D-N-J Auto Parts, Double H Hydraulics, Fischer’s Keystop Trucking & Towing, G&A Trucking and Warricktubing.com join the team as associate marketing partners in the first of two ARCA races at Salem Speedway this season.

Additional sponsorship opportunities are still available for this weekend’s activities. Interested parties are encouraged to contact Lisa Hudson of Brett Hudson Motorsports at 270.929.2160 or hudson00@adelphia.net.

In 30 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards starts, Hudson has produced three top-fives including a career best of fourth at Salem (Ind.) Speedway in 2007 and Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway (April 2011) and 12 top-10 finishes overall. Hudson has one career ARCA pole also coming at Salem (Ind.) Speedway in 2005 driving the No. 62 Hudson Machine Shop Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

The Kentuckiana Ford Dealers ARCA 200 presented by Crosley Radio (200 laps / 100 miles) is the third of 21 events on the 2013 ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards schedule. The 93rd ARCA race held at Salem is a two-day show. Practice begins Saturday, April 27 with a forty-five minute session planned from 12:00 p.m. – 12:45 p.m. A final 45-minute session is set for 1:15 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Menards pole qualifying presented by Ansell is set for later in the day at 3:30 p.m. An on-track autograph session has been etched in on race day, Sunday, April 28 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The event will take the green flag shortly after 2:00 p.m. The race will not be televised on SPEED but additional race coverage including live timing and scoring will be available through the ARCA Racing Network (ARN) online at arcaracing.com. All times are local.
