BROC TICKLE (No. 20 Dodge/Sycuan Casino/RCH Racing/Bel-Ray/Suzuki Z450)
LAS VEGAS IS THE FINAL ROUND OF THE 2013 SX SEASON. TALK ABOUT YOUR 2013 SX CAMPAIGN TO DATE: “Nothing spectacular results-wise. I made it through the SX season healthy and have been really consistent since Round 2. I think the goals for next year are to stay healthy and move further up in the pack; be in that group of riders that are fighting for top-fives and podiums instead of top 10s like this year.

“I got eighth in Supercross last year. The class this year was maybe the best ever in terms of talent. For me, I feel that I’ve made an improvement, it just didn’t show in top fives and podiums. (Justin) Brayton is a good example of a guy who was fourth last year – only nine points out of second – and now he’s in ninth place this year. I feel like we’ve gone forward this year.”

WITH VILLOPOTO WINNING THE 450SX CLASS TITLE LAST WEEKEND IN SALT LAKE CITY, DOES THE RACING CHANGE OR BECOME MORE AGGRESSIVE THIS WEEK BECAUSE THERE’S NO IMPACT ON THE CHAMPIONSHIP? “For me, not really, but possibly for the guys who were fighting for the SX championship. I just want to do better each week. I want to stay positive, go out this weekend and have a good ride. Last weekend was probably my best moto of the year on a pretty tricky track. I’ve stayed healthy all year and just want to carry my confidence over into the outdoor season in a few weeks.”

HOW HAS WORKING WITH RICKY CARMICHAEL (RC) HELPED DEVELOP YOUR RIDING SKILLS THIS YEAR? “Ricky’s been great. He’s won both – the outdoor and Supercross championships. To have him in our camp helping us develop as riders is invaluable. He’s been riding the bikes helping us with setups so that we’re dialed-in for the weekends. It gives me a lot of confidence knowing that RC’s helping us. He knows what it takes for a bike to be won on. It’s cool to get that confidence from him.”

IS THERE ONE PIECE OF ADVICE THAT RICKY HAS GIVEN YOU THAT STICKS OUT OF YOUR MIND? “The technique that I’ve used has been nearly the same. There are little things that you can do in your (race) corners that aren’t necessarily technique per se – it’s just tweaking things to get more speed out of bike.”
