Circuit Of The Americas To Collect Donations For Victims Of West, Texas Tragedy

Circuit of The Americas has partnered with the American Red Cross of Central Texas to gather donations for those affected by the West, Texas, fertilizer plant explosion. Guests attending motorsports events and concerts through May 31 at the Circuit will have the opportunity to make a cash donation to the relief effort. Collections will begin at the Jason Aldean concert Sunday, May 5, and will be forwarded to the Red Cross for its Disaster Relief Fund which funds the relief efforts for the victims in West and other disasters. Circuit of The Americas will kick off the collection drive by donating $5,000 to the American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund.

To date, the American Red Cross of Central Texas has organized more than 200 volunteers to serve thousands of meals, provide health and mental health consultations and gather relief items donated to the victims in West. The organization has also partnered with other agencies, such as The Salvation Army and Austin Disaster Relief Network, to open a Joint Assistance Center to provide a one-stop shop for victims in need of recovery assistance.

“Our team was deeply saddened to hear about the tragedy that occurred in West recently, and we feel it is our duty to assist the victims in our neighboring city to the north,” said Circuit President and Chief Executive Officer Steve Sexton. “By partnering with the American Red Cross of Central Texas and gathering donations at our events, we hope to assist those affected in West as they take the first steps to recovery.”

“We truly appreciate the support that Circuit of The Americas, its employees and patrons can offer to fellow Texans who’ve lost so much and need assistance,” said Marty McKellips, chief executive officer of the American Red Cross of Central Texas. “Our agency continues to serve victims of the West, Texas, tragedy as they work to recover from the explosion and move on with their lives. Monies raised through generous efforts like this one will help them do just that.”

Guests attending events at the Circuit may make cash donations at designated concessions, Guest Services stations and merchandise booths located throughout the venue. Donations may be made at American Red Cross-branded canisters at these locations. More information on the American Red Cross’ disaster relief efforts can be found at http://www.redcross.org/.
