In what was hailed one of the best-ever Supercross seasons - Millsaps led the series initially - the 25-year-old Californian put in a hard-fought result aboard the Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki RM-Z450.

Coming into the final round at Sam Boyd Stadium, Millsaps and KTM's Ryan Dungey were separated by just three points; the series being wrapped-up by Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki) last weekend in Salt Lake City.

When the gate dropped for the 450cc Main Event, the three top riders quickly found themselves in a familiar position - one-two-three. But Millsaps did exactly what he needed to do by picking up his incredible 12th podium of 2013, eclipsing Dungey by one point.

Said Millsaps: "Good Season. It's over and second overall. Not too shabby. I'm 'gonna come back swinging next year. I did the best I could and It was fun, exciting; and I'm looking forward to what's next to come."

Rockstar Energy Racing Suzuki team-mate Blake Wharton also matched his season-best overall from last year with third place in the East Coast 250 Championship. He just missed the podium in his Main Event with a solid fourth and was also the top Rockstar Energy Racing rider in the Dave Coombs Sr. East/ West Shootout with another top five.

Jason Anderson - who picked-up the first win of his young career one week ago at Salt Lake City - had great starts all night; he rode well in 'Sin City' but suffered from less than stellar results out-of-the-gate in both the West Coast Main and the Shootout. He came through the pack but just had too much of a deficit to make up in both races. Anderson raced to two sixth-placed finishes on the night to finish fourth overall in the series.

Said Anderson: "It was an alright day. I had bad starts. I've definitely had better starts."

Ryan Sipes is still racing himself back into shape after his long lay-off and was able to pick up a top-five in the West Main event. However, his result in the Shootout was not quite as good as he crossed the finish line in seventh place just behind Anderson.

Said Sipes: "It was better than last week, I thought; better than Salt Lake or Seattle. I felt like I rode a little stronger. I'm still not riding like I can but I'm working on it and getting closer. My starts are better so I just need to try to build on it and take it to the Outdoor Series."

The team now has a weekend off racing so they can make the shift to focusing solely on the Lucas Oil Outdoor Motocross Championship beginning at the Hangtown MX in Rancho Cordova in California.

" Millsaps announced at the Las Vegas Press Conference that he will be going through much-needed surgery to repair his knee and femur; and miss the Outdoor MX season. It will extend his career in the long term and he hopes to be even better coming into next year's Supercross series. He will get his surgery out of the way immediately and then start a long rehabilitation period.

Also, at the Las Vegas event, Rockstar Energy Racing's Dave Gowland picked-up the 'Team Manager of the Year' accolade.

Las Vegas 450SX Results: 1. Ryan Villopoto (Kawasaki), 2. Ryan Dungey (KTM), 3. Davi Millsaps (Rockstar Energy Suzuki), 4. Jake Weimer (Kawasaki), 5. Justin Barcia (Honda), 6. Chad Reed (Honda), 7. Weston Peick (Suzuki), 8. Justin Brayton (Yamaha), 9. Andrew Short (KTM), 10. Broc Tickle (RCH Suzuki).
