WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW FOR DARLINGTON RACEWAY

Jamie McMurray and No. 1 McDonalds Team

Talladega Recap: With a soggy forecast for the entire race weekend at Talladega, NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) teams utilized the first practice session on Friday to work on drafting practice rather than mock-qualifying runs. The rainy weather on Saturday eventually forced the cancellation of NSCS qualifying. Jamie McMurray would start the race from the 28th position. Following two major accidents, a three and a half-hour rain-delay and a finish at dusk, Jamie McMurray was credited with a 23rd-place finish in the No. 1 McDonald’s Chevrolet SS.

McMurray at Darlington: McMurray 12 starts at the “Lady in Black” where he has accumulated one pole, three top-five, and five top-10 finishes. He has completed 4093 of 4263 (96%) laps and led163 of those. McMurray`s best finish at Darlington was in the 2010 race when he scored a runner-up finish. The driver of the McDonald’s Chevy SS has an average finishing position of 16.1 and an average starting position of 14.0.

Golden Arches: Grab some dinner on the way to the track this weekend at one of several local McDonald’s conveniently located within 10 miles of Darlington Raceway: 1501 S. Main St Darlington, SC. 29532, 1908 W. Lucas St. Florence, SC. 29501, David H. McLeod Dr. Florence, SC. 29501, 431 Hartsville Crossing Road Hartsville, SC 29550 or at 2016 W. Palmetto Florence, SC 29501. You can also download the McDonald’s app on your smartphone anytime to locate restaurants, see promotions and find useful info on menu items.

Juan Pablo Montoya and No. 42 Target Team

Talladega Rewind: Talladega Superspeedway lived up to its reputation as unpredictable as teams endured inclement weather, a red flag delay and chaos on the race track. Juan Pablo Montoya and the No. 42 Clorox team were set to beat the odds when an unexpected electrical issue deterred another solid finish and resulted in a 25th-place finish.

Montoya in Darlington: Montoya has just six starts at Darlington, the track known as “Too Tough to Tame”. His best finish was in 2010 when he finished fifth. He has an average start of 23.8 with an even better average finish of 19.7. Montoya has completed 2199 out of 2206 which averages out to 99.7% laps completed and zero DNF’s (did not finish).
