The number of laps led by Jeff Gordon in the 1994 Coca-Cola 600, the race that gave Gordon his first victory in NASCAR’s Sprint Cup Series. Rusty Wallace led 187 laps in the May 29 race, but Ray Evernham made a two-tire call in the late going that gave Gordon the lead. Wallace, on four new tires, ran out of time before he could catch Gordon, the polesitter. Gordon and Evernham went on to win three Cup championships together. With 87 Cup victories, Gordon is third all-time and trying to earn more.
