Drivers and teams have already started motoring toward Minnesota. In fact, on Friday, several teams and drivers - and their transport haulers - will be appearing at the Menards store in nearby Burnsville for the Menards Race Fest. The event is being hailed as the "Big Rig Event."

Nine-time ARCA Racing Series champion and current point leader Frank Kimmel, driver of the Ansell-Menards Toyota for ThorSport Racing, is among the drivers committed to attending the event, being held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Burnsville store at 2700 Highway 13 West.

Venturini Motorsports plans on having at least three of its teams at the event, including Justin Boston, Kyle Benjamin and Milka Duno. Also appearing with the Venturini team is Brennan Poole, last year's Akona 200 winner in what was the first appearance for the ARCA Racing Series in Minnesota.

Other teams are expected to make their way to the Race Fest as well.

Among those are WinTron Racing driver Mason Mingus, in the No. 32, 811-Call-Before-You-Dig Chevrolet, who currently ranks No. 2 in the ARCA season point standings and is coming off a pair of runner-up finishes.

Tickets are on sale now for the Akona 250 presented by Federated Car Care at Elko Speedway. Tickets are $20, compared to $30 on race day, and will be available at 36 Menards stores in the Minneapolis, Minn. market.

ARCA has scheduled two 45-minute practice sessions Saturday at Elko. The first is from 2-2:45 p.m. CT and final practice is from 3:15-4 p.m. Menards Pole Qualifying presented by Ansell is scheduled for 5:30 p.m. to set the starting grid, followed by a frontstretch on-track autograph session from 6:30-7:30.

The season's sixth race, 250 laps and 94 miles, is scheduled for an 8 p.m. CT start Saturday, with live timing & scoring and audio coverage available on ARCARacing.com throughout the day.

The Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) is among the leading auto racing sanctioning bodies in the country. Founded in 1953 by John and Mildred Marcum, the organization administers more than 100 events each year in multiple racing series, including the ARCA Racing Series presented by Menards, the ARCA/CRA Super Series, the ARCA Truck Series and the ARCA Midwest Tour, plus weekly racing at Toledo and Flat Rock Speedways.
