Bobby Labonte Racing Brings Home Third Place at Tazewell

Bobby Labonte Racing (BLR) posted a solid run in Friday night's Toyota Knoxville 50 at Tazewell (Tenn.) Speedway. The team, along with driver Earl Pearson Jr., scored a third-place finish, marking its fourth top-five in 2013 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series competition.

Pearson Jr. was among 20 entrants in Friday night's showdown. "The Hurricane," as Pearson Jr. is known, finished Heat No. 2 in second place. The excellent showing in preliminary action gave Pearson and the BLR team a fifth place starting position in the feature.

Pearson Jr. had a great car on Friday and it showed. He raced inside the top five for the majority of the night. John Blankenship took first place and was dominant all night, holding off challenges from Jimmy Owens and Steve Francis. The BLR team was pleased with the performance of its No. 44 Longhorn Chassis.

"The car was really good this weekend," said Pearson Jr. "I never had a chance to battle for the lead, but happy with the finish and another good points weekend for the team. A performance like that gives us a lot of confidence heading into Eldora."

The team was set to head to Florence Speedway in Florence, Ky. on Saturday for another 50-lap main event. However, the race was postponed due to heavy rains Friday night and Saturday morning. Keep an eye on the website for the new race date www.bobbylabonteracing.com.

Pearson Jr. stands fifth in Lucas Oil Championship Points only 260 points away from the leader Jimmy Owens. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series takes a week off from competition and will be back in action June 14 and 15 at Magnolia Motor Speedway in Columbus, Miss. The BLR team including Earl Pearson Jr. and Steve Shaver will head to Eldora Speedway this week for the "Dream 100" on Saturday, June 8th.
