Wisconsin's Own Kimberly-Clark Joins Ganassi For Two Historic Wisconsin Races

Chip Ganassi Racing Teams (CGRT) has joined forces with Kimberly-Clark North America as the primary sponsor of CGRT drivers in back-to-back race weekends in Wisconsin, home of Kimberly-Clark’s North American brands that include Huggies®, Cottonelle® and many more. On June 15, Kimberly-Clark’s Huggies brand will adorn the Indy car and firesuit of four-time IZOD IndyCar Series Champion and three-time Indianapolis 500 Winner Dario Franchitti’s No. 10 Honda for the race at The Milwaukee Mile. One week later, the Cottonelle brand will be the primary sponsor of young driving sensation Kyle Larson’s No. 32 Chevrolet Camaro in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) race at Road America.

K-C was founded in Neenah, Wis., which is just 100 miles from West Allis, Wis., home to one of the oldest racetracks in the world, The Milwaukee Mile. Elkhart Lake, Wis., home of what is considered one of the most picturesque road courses in North America, Road America, is just 60 miles from the campus of Kimberly-Clark North America in Neenah, home base for more than 3,000 K-C employees in Wisconsin.

NOTES OF INTEREST:

Kimberly-Clark and CGRT: This is the fifth season that Kimberly-Clark has been a partner of Chip Ganassi Racing Teams. Earlier this year, Kimberly-Clark’s Depend® brand sponsored Juan Pablo Montoya’s No. 42 Chevrolet SS in a strong run and fourth-place finish in Richmond, Va., in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS). Overall, the current group of CGRT drivers has seven total wins at the two tracks combined, with Franchitti leading the way with two wins at The Milwaukee Mile and one at Road America.

Franchitti at The Mile: Franchitti has started a total of 13 times at The Milwaukee Mile and has two wins (2004, 2011), two poles (2011, 2012), six top-five and 10 top-10 finishes. In eight starts in 2013, the four-time IZOD IndyCar Series Champion has two top-five and five top-10 finishes, along with two poles. He currently sits 10th in the IZOD IndyCar Series standings. Over his career, Franchitti has 31 wins (tied for seventh all-time), 31 poles, 114 top-five and 160 top-10s.

Larson’s first at Road America: His start on June 22 at Road America will not only be Larson’s first start at Road America, but it will also be Larson’s first NASCAR start on any road course. Currently in the 2013 NNS, the 20-year-old sits 10th in the point standings with three top-five and seven top-10 finishes over 12 starts. His best finish of the season was a second place in Bristol when he last wore the Cottonelle brand.

QUOTEBOARD:

John Cayer, Vice-President Rolled Products, Kimberly Clark: “This is a great opportunity to join the Ganassi team in promoting two fantastic Kimberly-Clark brands that lead the way in our mission to provide people everywhere with essentials for daily life. We’re excited about working together with this team to showcase our products and bring some great racing to our friends, families and fans in Wisconsin.”

Steve Lauletta, President, Chip Ganassi Racing Teams: “It is always nice when you have a racing opportunity for a partner to make a splash in their home markets. Race fans in Wisconsin are numerous and legendary for their love of our sport so we not only hope they cheer on Dario and Kyle but also support their Wisconsin’s own Kimberly-Clark brands that we will carry on both their cars.”
