Chevrolet GRAND-AM Drivers Ready To Race Into Summer Starting At Mid-Ohio

Chevrolet teams and drivers in both the GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series and the Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge are back in action this weekend at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course near Lexington, Ohio. Looking for a repeat of last season’s success at the 2.258-mile, 13-turn road course, and to continue building on this season’s accomplishments, the competitors will have to maneuver through tight turns and long, fast straightaways in order to take on the competition, and secure a coveted spot on the podium.

As GRAND-AM Road Racing rolls into the busy summer months of the season, the six Chevrolet Corvette drivers and teams in the Daytona Prototype (DP) class want to build on the momentum of three wins in the first five races thus far in 2013. With this season’s success by the Corvette DP teams that includes two victories for the No. 10 Wayne Taylor Racing team, and one win by the No. 99 Bob Stallings Racing ream, Chevrolet leads the Manufacturers’ Standings in Rolex Daytona Prototype.

In the GT class Stevenson Motorsports Camaro GT.R drivers John Edwards and Robin Liddell are riding high on three consecutive wins, and want to continue their march to the top of the class standings with another strong run at Mid-Ohio.

"After scoring the double win in the Chevrolet GRAND-AM 200 in Detroit, our Chevy Rolex teams in DP and GT have re-prepped their race cars from Belle Isle and are ready for Mid-Ohio’s traditional sports car course," said Jim Lutz, Chevrolet Racing Program Manager, GRAND-AM Rolex Sports Car Series. "This weekend the race returns to a full 2.45 hours in length. Wide open with no ‘concrete walls’ will lead to aggressive side-by-side action and important pit stops."

The Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge drivers climb back in the cockpits of their Camaro GS.R race cars after an eight week hiatus from competition. Matt Bell and John Edwards in the No. 57 Stevenson Motorsports Camaro GT.R look to continue their winnings ways after scoring their first victory of the season in the last race at Road Atlanta. The duo is currently second in the team point standings; only six points out of the lead position.

The opening race of the weekend the Diamond Cellar Classic Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge two and a half hour race will start at 10:35 a.m. on Saturday June 15th followed by the Rolex Sports Car Series two hour and forty-five minutes race which starts at 4:30 p.m. and can be seen live on SPEED.
