Limited Seating Available For Drag Racing Chassis Seminars

Drag racers who want to lower their elapsed times and increase their consistency are encouraged to sign up for a Chassis Dynamics seminar during the summer.

Chassis Dynamics seminars are hosted by veteran mechanic and car builder Todd Bevis, who currently serves as manager for Cagnazzi Racing's Race Car Fabrication Group.

The next seminar will be held June 22-23 at Royal Purple Raceway in Baytown, Texas, and another is scheduled for the following weekend, June 29-30, at Texas Motorplex in Ennis, Texas.

"We'll teach drivers and mechanics how the chassis works on a typical drag race car and how they can get better," Bevis said. "Through a hands-on approach, they will learn how to make adjustments to the race car with the knowledge of what the response should be.

"They will be able to make suspension adjustments with the confidence that they did it right the first time and without fear of what the car will do."

Bevis will guide attendees through many types of chassis adjustments, including changes to the four-link, shocks, sway bar, bump steer, pinion angle, ballast placement, and many other variables that play a big part in a car's performance.

Attendees get an opportunity to learn in an environment conducive to asking questions with answers coming in an easy-to-understand format.

"The goal of Chassis Dynamics is to equip you with the greatest tool of all: knowledge," Bevis said. "With this tool you will be able to work with confidence toward making a race car perform not only better but a lot more consistently and be in position to win a lot more rounds of racing."

The cost of each seminar is $995, and if two racers sign up together they receive a 10 percent discount.

Bevis has been working on race cars for more than 33 years and has collaborated with some of the best in the sport, including Ray Martel and David Nickens, among many others. In 2002, Bevis teamed with Cagnazzi Racing to build the team's in-house chassis, and his race cars won the 2007 and 2008 Pro Stock championships with driver Jeg Coughlin Jr. In 2012, Erica Enders drove Bevis' car to four Pro Stock victories, and Dave Connolly won the U.S. Nationals in a Bevis-built entry.
