Enzo at Le Mans … 8Star Motorsports team owner and co-driver Enzo Potolicchio returns to Circuit de la Sarthe as a Le Mans champion, having earned the 2012 LMP2 class victory driving the No. 44 entry with co-drivers Ryan Dalziel and Tom Kimber-Smith. The No.44 team also earned the 2012 FIA WEC LMP2 class championship.

2013 Le Man Teammates … The No. 81 8Star Motorsports co-drivers are Enzo, Rui Aguas and Jason Bright. Aguas competed in the previous two 24 Hours of Le Mans in the LMGTE-Am class with co-drivers Robert Kauffmann and Michael Waltrip (2011), and Kauffmann and Brian Vickers (2012). Bright currently competes fulltime in the International V8 Supercars Championship and will make his Le Mans debut in the 81st edition of the crown jewel of international endurance sports car racing.

Enzo Potolicchio Quotes:
“Right now is the busiest part of the season when it comes to all the travel but at least this year we don’t have the conflicts we had last year. Last year we had a conflict with the WEC schedule. This weekend it has been every weekend on the go but at least we have time to get back and forth. It’s kind of tight now for the race because we fly out of Columbus (Ohio) on Sunday and don’t land in Paris until Monday morning and then have to run to get to Le Mans in time for the scrutineering. But it’s a long week and we just have to keep our focus.”

“It was definitely a great feeling going to the test last week as a race winner, with experience at the track and the whole 8Star team did a great job getting the car prepared. We definitely have a competitive and reliable car for the race.”

“To have the chance to win Le Mans in my own car, and to win it two years in a row in different classes, will be amazing. I was the first WEC driver to win in two different classes and to win Le Mans back-to-back would be a great accomplishment for our team and a great honor for me, personally. We were really fast in the test and we have three really good drivers so we definitely have a great shot at winning. Le Mans is the greatest race in the world and I’m really looking forward to competing.”

“I’m a big supporter of the GRAND-AM/ALMS merger and running the United Sports Car Racing decals on the 8Star car at Le Mans is a great way to promote the new series. I’m honored to be an ambassador for the USCR at the biggest race in the world and that’s why I offered to run their decals on the car to promote the series. We’re going to one of the best series in the world with all the big events like Daytona, Sebring, Petit Le Mans, Indy and the 6 Hours of Sebring. We’ll have the best endurance championship in the world here in the U.S.”

“It will be a great honor for Mr. France to support all the GRAND-AM drivers there and show us the French flag to start the race. 8Star is the only GRAND-AM team that will be there to compete in the 24 Hours of Le Mans so it’s definitely going to be a special moment for all of us.”
