Good Start For Di Meglio And Team JiR At A Damp Assen

Mike Di Meglio and Team JiR braved tricky conditions today to make a good start to this weekend’s Moto2 event at Assen in The Netherlands.

Despite conditions that were wet and then drying – the hardest conditions to master on a racing motorcycle – Mike enjoyed his time on his Team JiR Moto2 machine and learnt a lot from the motorcycle as he took 6th place in the difficult conditions and 13th place in the combined standings.

At the front of the pack, Pol Espargaro was quickest with Scott Redding second and Dominique Aegerter third.

Position:

13th

Best Lap:

1'49.418

Today was quite a good day overall, with the session starting completely wet and then gradually drying. These conditions are hard to gauge normally, but the Team JiR machine felt good and we got plenty of information for tomorrow. We tried a wet tyre on the drying track and the bike felt good, so this could be an important test for tomorrow or the race on Saturday as we do not know what the conditions will be: either way we are ready – wet or dry – and we also can make some improvements.

TT of Assen – Combined classification after FP2:
1. Pol ESPARGARO – 1’39.988s
2. Scott REDDING + 0.114s
3. Dominique AEGERTER + 0.567s
4. Johann ZARCO + 0.633s
5. Xavier SIMEON + 0.728s

13. Mike DI MEGLIO + 1.258s
