Monster Energy's Nate Adams Claims Bronze In Moto X Speed & Style At X Games Munich

Monster Energy’s Nate Adams won a closely contested bronze medal match up as eight of the best riders in FMX battled it out in the X Games Speed & Style competition.

In the format judged on both a combination of finishing time and technicality, and style of tricks, Adams stomped home against Ronnie Renner in the first round with a stylish run including a Lazy Boy Backflip, No Handed Backflip & Tsunami to rack up a huge score of 89.00, in the process setting up a semi final head to head against Javier Villegas. Thankfully, there were no sign of the injuries recently plaguing Adams.

"My right shoulder is pretty much back to normal but the left one is just waiting for the nerve damage to settle down. I just try to keep it out of my mind. I get up and ride like it never happened - so between now and LA, it will just be more riding and more training", said Adams.

Racing wheel to wheel in the early stages against an inspired Villegas, Adams slid out during a daring passing attempt on the second lap that left him struggling to get back on his bike and finish the race.

Minutes later, Adams was lining up again for the bronze medal race which pitted him against Josh Sheehan who had previously put out Monster rider Edgar Torronteras. Soaking up the electric atmosphere inside the packed out Olympihalle Stadium, Adams led from the start and threw down super technical maneuvers with massive air on each jump.

With both riders celebrating after they passed the finish line it was a tense wait until the scores came in. Adams score of 93.02 ensured he won an historic 16th X Games medal.

Nate commented on his win, "I feel great, happy that I salvaged a medal. I know I could have won. It stings a little bit that I made one bad decision tonight but if anything, it's lit a fire under me for LA".
