NASCAR Number (July 1, 2013)

By Reid Spencer, NASCAR Wire Service

64: The number of races between the two most recent top-five finishes posted in NASCAR Sprint Cup Series events by Jamie McMurray. On Sunday, McMurray finished second to Matt Kenseth in the Quaker State 400 at Kentucky Speedway, his first top five since running fifth at Bristol in August 2011. McMurray has scored three top fives since his banner year in 2010, when he recorded nine top-five results and won the Daytona 500, the Brickyard 400 and the fall race at Charlotte. McMurray has run well this season, having snared the pole at Sonoma, and at Kentucky he finally got a finish commensurate with his Earnhardt Ganassi Racing team’s performance.
