2013 Daytona II: JR Motorsports NASCAR Nationwide Race Preview

Regan Smith
Hellmann’s Centennial Chevrolet Camaro

"I feel like the restrictor plate races have been a strong spot for us this year. Daytona certainly is a place where things can be more out of your control than other tracks. You just have to be as smart as you can, and put yourself in the best situation and the best spot on the racetrack. If you do that, you’ll be there on the last lap and have a shot to battle for the win. Our Hellmann’s team prides itself on being able to run fast and win at any track on the circuit. Certainly Daytona is no different. We’ll look to avoid the accidents, but also look to go there and use it as an opportunity to rebuild this points lead."

Brad Sweet
Great Clips Chevrolet Camaro

"This is going to be my first restrictor-plate race with JR Motorsports. It’s exciting because this team has a great record at Daytona and has found a lot of success there. I know we’ll have a fast Great Clips car when we unload. It’s the same car that Kasey drove at Daytona in the spring, and he almost won with it at Talladega. Speed and handling won’t be the problem, but staying out of trouble is the hard part. Sometimes it’s difficult to know where to position yourself in the different stages of the race. That’s something that comes with experience. I’ve been anticipating this race. Regan knows a lot about running in the tandem draft, and there is a lot I can learn from him during the practice sessions. "

Notes
RESTRICTOR PLATE WINNERS - Regan Smith was in contention for wins at both restrictor-plate races this season, scoring the team’s first 2013 victory at Talladega Superspeedway and first on a restrictor-plate track. The organization entered three cars
at Daytona in the spring and two in the Talladega event. The teams totaled one win,
three top-fives and three top-10 finishes, leading a total of 52 laps.

LAP LEADER - Smith has led 30 laps in restrictor-plate events in 2013, ranking him as the lap leader among Nationwide Series regulars in that category. Among all drivers this season, he trails only Joey Logano in restrictor-plate laps led.

7 TEAM CHASSIS INTEL - Smith and the Hellmann’s Centennial team will race chassis 796. This is the same chassis Smith
drove to victory at Talladega Superspeedway in May.

5 TEAM CHASSIS UPDATE– Brad Sweet and the Great Clips team will unload chassis 693 at Daytona. Kasey Kahne drove
this chassis at Daytona International Speedway earlier this year and finished third with it at Talladega Superspeedway, leading
16 laps.

MEET REGAN SMITH AT DAYTONA BEACH WALMART - Fans are invited to meet JR Motorsports driver Regan Smith for
autographs on Thursday, July 4, from 11 a.m.-Noon at the Walmart on 1101 Belville Road in Daytona Beach, Fla.

JR NATION MERCHANDISE HAULER AUTOGRAPH SESSION - Smith and Sweet will sign autographs at the JR Nation merchandise hauler, located in the Daytona International Speedway, beginning at 4 p.m. on Friday, July 5.

HAVE A FAVORITE DRIVER? PROVE IT - JR Motorsports and Great Clips are asking fans to show their favorite driver via their haircut in The Great Fan Haircut Photo Contest. The requirements are simple: come up with creative, colorful, or unique hair designs that showcase your favorite driver, take a photo of yourself, and submit your entry to the JR Motorsports Facebook page. Prizes will be given to the top six photos with the most “likes”, including the grand prize of a VIP NASCAR weekend at Kansas Speedway on Oct. 5-6. That includes tickets and garage passes for both the Nationwide Series and Sprint Cup Series events, plus airfare and hotel expenses covered as part of the prize-winning package.

WIN DALE JR.’S RIDE IS BACK FOR 2013 – One lucky winner will walk away with the keys to Dale Jr.’s Corvette this year.
The Dale Jr. Foundation is giving fans the chance to win one of three prizes with the purchase of a $25 raffle ticket, including a shot at Earnhardt Jr.’s own 2013 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport. The contest will run through Oct. 1, 2013, with all proceeds benefitting The Dale Jr. Foundation. For complete details visit www.windalejrsride.com.

LISTENING EXPERIENCE ON THE AXIS OF JUNIOR - From the communications team at JR Motorsports comes a new way for Dale Jr. fans to get their Junior fix. Dirty Mo Radio is housed at DaleJr.com and is also available free of charge on all popular podcasting outlets.
