“Countdown To The 20th Running At The Brickyard” NASCAR Number: Day 3


On Sunday, July 28, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series will celebrate a special milestone – the 20th premier series race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway (1 p.m. ET on ESPN, IMS Network Radio and SiriusXM Satellite Radio). To commemorate the milestone, starting Tuesday, July 2, 2013, and continuing each weekday through Friday, July 26, the NASCAR Wire Service will feature a special “Countdown To The 20th Running At The Brickyard” NASCAR Number. 3: The number of drivers who have won the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 in the same season. Dale Jarrett was the first to accomplish the feat when he followed up his 1996 Daytona 500 win with a victory in the third annual Brickyard 400. Jimmie Johnson (2006) and Jamie McMurray (2010) are the others. In all, seven drivers have won both the Daytona 500 and the Brickyard 400 in their careers: Jarrett, Johnson, McMurray, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt, Bill Elliott and Kevin Harvick.
