Windom Nets Two Victories in Dominant Weekend

In the span of one weekend, 22-year-old Chris Windom claimed his second and third victories of the 2013 racing season in Sprint Car shows at Bloomington Speedway (IN) last Friday and Paragon Speedway (IN) on Saturday.

Windom's scores came as the result of hard-fought battles. In the Sheldon Kinser Memorial at Bloomington, he started from the front row and out-dueled Hunter Schuerenberg early for the lead on a rough racetrack. On Saturday, he won the Chuck Amato Classic 68-lapper by muscling past veteran Jon Stanbrough after starting fourth and overcoming some ill handling in the first half of the race.

"It was a heck of a weekend. We have a new car and a new Mopar motor that we're pretty excited about," said Windom, who will now turn his attention to USAC's Indiana Sprint Week, a seven tracks-in-nine days gauntlet of events beginning this Friday, July 12 at Gas City I-69 Speedway (IN).

"We plan on using this car during Sprint Week, so we couldn't have timed things any better."

In addition to the two victories, he earned a second-place finish on Sunday night at Kokomo Speedway (IN), a track on which he scored his other victory of the season in May.

He is a former winner of the Perris Oval Nationals at Perris Auto Speedway (CA) and the Little 500 at Anderson Speedway (IN). He won four USAC National Sprint Car features in 2011.

Windom is also transitioning to pavement Stock Car racing via the ARCA Series. He has two top-10 finishes in three career ARCA starts, including a third-place finish at the Du Quoin Fairgrounds (IL).
