Starting from 23rd place, Conway, in the No. 18 Sonny’s Bar-B-Q Honda was attempting to achieve what he did yesterday and move up the most places of any other driver in the race. With a successful standing start, the first in the IZOD IndyCar Series history, the 29-year-old showed his street course talent and by the end of the first lap had overtaken seven cars and was sitting 16th. Conway continued to push his way up the field, struggling a little in the middle part of the race, but in the last 20 laps advanced again. He was lying 12th on the second to last yellow where he skillfully passed another car on the restart before it returned to yellow. On the final restart with two laps to go, Conway was patient and as three other cars collided up front he managed to avoid the situation and come away with his second seventh place finish and a gain an incredible total of 29 positions over the weekend.

Commenting on today Conway said, “It was another really tough race. To start from the back and to be able to finish seventh I am very happy about. It certainly wasn’t easy as I could overtake some cars in certain turns and then in others we would give the spot back. Not sure why it happened so will be interesting to see what the data says. I need to thank Dale Coyne for giving me the chance to be able to race with his team again and looking forward to returning for Houston if not before.”

In 58 starts, Conway has earned 17 top-10 finishes, five top-fives and two wins. However in the five starts he has made this year, he has come away with one win, a third, two sevenths and a pole.

Conway will return to Europe for his full time duties in the World Endurance Championship for Delta-ADR. His next race is the Six Hours of Sao Paulo in Brazil on the 1st September.
