The 19-year-old is poised to capture a solid result as he and his team Thompson Racing continue to grow more accustomed to competing in the No. 14 Porsche 911 Platinum Cup car.

"The team and I have really molded a lot with not only each other, but also with the car and the series," Thompson said. "We began the season with no experience or data on the car, a small budget, and most importantly a small yet hard working team. We have progressed so much from there and are now a true threat to all of the other top teams."

Thompson earned a spot on the podium in round three of the IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama schedule at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. He went on to a sixth-place finish in round five at Watkins Glen International before a late race incident in round six knocked him out of contention for a top-five finish.

Aside from his two GT3 Cup races at Watkins Glen International, Thompson also made his first career GRAND-AM Road Racing Series start, racing alongside some of the world's most talented professional sports car drivers.

"The Sahlen's 6 Hours of the Glen was a fully professional race, and it taught me a lot," Thompson said. "I was able to test my concentration during long stints as well as learn new technique during pit stops and driver changes, which I had never experienced before. Most importantly it reassured my goal to compete in professional sports car racing for my career."

Heading into the Mobil 1 Sportscar Grand Prix, Thompson is 10th in the Platinum Cup Championship. The Perkasie, Penn.-native is looking forward to racing on the 2.459-mile track that has played host to some of history's greatest drivers, including Mario Andretti, Stirling Moss and Gilles Villeneuve.

"Canadian Tire Motorsport Park is one of the most unique and challenging courses on our schedule," Thompson said. "It has always been one of my favorite tracks and I am itching to rock it in the legendary Turn 2!"

Thompson will get his first crack at the track on July 18 for test sessions at 10:30 a.m. ET and 3:30 p.m. ET. He will then practice and qualify on July 19 before a 45-minute timed race at 1:20p.m. ET. The green flag drops on the second IMSA GT3 Cup Challenge by Yokohama race on July 21 at 3:15 p.m. ET.
