2013 Iowa II: Brian Scott NASCAR Nationwide Race Preview

This Week's Shore Lodge Chevrolet at Iowa Speedway ... This weekend, Brian Scott and Richard Childress Racing's No. 2 Shore Lodge team travel to Iowa Speedway for the second of two NASCAR Nationwide Series stand alone events in the Hawkeye State. The No. 2 team plans to utilize chassis No. 101 from the Richard Childress Racing Nationwide Series stable. Scott earned a fourth-place finish in this Chevrolet Camaro after starting fifth at New Hampshire Motor Speedway in July, a sixth-place finish after starting third at Iowa Speedway in June and a 10th-place finish at Phoenix International Raceway in March. Prior to 2013, Elliott Sadler made six starts with this Chevrolet under the RCR banner in 2012, winning twice at Bristol Motor Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway.

Iowa History ... In six Nationwide Series starts at Iowa Speedway, Scott earned his first top-10 finish at the track in a RCR entry in June with a sixth-place result. The 25-year-old Nationwide Series regular has only one start outside the top-10 in his six series appearances at this track. Additionally, he has one NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start in 2009 where he earned a ninth-place finish.

Best Career Finish ... Scott heads to Iowa Speedway with momentum coming off his best-career Nationwide Series finish one week ago. The Boise, Idaho native earned a second-place finish after dramatically taking the lead in the final laps from veterans Kyle Busch and Joey Logano. As the laps wound down Busch passed Scott for the lead, but the Nationwide Series regular was able to hold off Logano for the second spot. With his strong finish last weekend, Scott pulled within 46 points of first place in the driver championship point standings.

Lodging in Idaho ... Shore Lodge will serve as primary sponsor for Scott and the No. 2 team this weekend at Iowa Speedway. Set on the southern shore of Payette Lake in McCall, Idaho, four seasons of adventure await at this idyllic location. A family favorite since 1948, the travel destination allows guests to enjoy the spectacular views, friendly service and generous accommodations at the lake front resort. Shore Lodge serves as the perfect mixture of adventure and luxury featuring 26 spa adventures, fitness studio, golf privileges at Whitetail Club, jet skiing, and a private beach for guests.

Shore Lodge: Did You Know? ... Shore Lodge is set on the southern shore of Payette Lake. The spectacular lake has been a destination for visitors since the 1800s. Known to Native American tribes and frontiersmen, the French Canadian fur trapper, Francois Payette roamed these mountain trails and gave the river and hence the lake its name. In the 1860s, gold miners temporarily settled here to pan for gold but were unsuccessful and soon moved on. Following World War II, a group of businessmen and doctors from Lewiston, Idaho turned their sights to developing the lake for tourists. At its heart would be the iconic Shore Lodge, which opened on July 3, 1948.

Is Iowa Speedway a short track or a Speedway?
"Iowa Speedway is definitely a short track. I consider any track in the Nationwide Series where you have to touch the brake a short track. Anything over a mile we really don't use the brake."

You finished sixth at Iowa (Speedway) earlier this season, what will you do differently this time around?
"I like Iowa (Speedway), we had a good run earlier this spring. It was a crazy race with rain and the schedule was all over the place. We qualified and ran in the top five for almost the whole race and finished in the top-10. We know what we need to do to get better; we're looking forward to going back. The RCR crew has something figured out there, our teammate (Austin Dillon) sat on the pole, led most of the race and we were right there behind him. We just needed to tweak a few things to get up there and run with him. I feel like it's a place we have a handle really well and I look forward to going back and challenging for the win."
