New Track is a New Opportunity as Action Express Racing Heads to Kansas

The Saturday night shootout, set to run through sunset and then into the night under the lights, will mark Round 10 of the 2013 GRAND-AM Championship. Just three races remain to determine the 2013 Rolex Series title, and Action Express Racing is focused on making the most of each of the next three races.

The team has executed well as a group, with Road America being just the latest example of a strong team performance. The No. 5 Action Express Corvette DP of Joao Barbosa and Christian Fittipaldi finished the VISITFLORIDA.com Sports Car 250 in second place, with the No. 9 Corvette DP of Burt and Brian Frisselle coming home in third.

The double-podium result has the team looking forward to the visit to Kansas. Adding to the anticipation is the fact that the team got to develop its notebook last year with a visit to the track in a two-day test. The “roval” layout features both a high-speed oval section as well as multiple slow-speed cornering elements.

“We were fortunate to get the opportunity to test at the track last year,” said team manager Gary Nelson. “We know that the track conditions will be different this weekend, but we are at least heading out there with a good idea of where we will start the weekend in terms of setting up the team Corvette DPs. The championship is our goal and the best way to make progress towards that goal is to win, so that is the target again this weekend.”

The weekend will open with practice and qualifying on Friday, August 16, with the race set to go green on Saturday at 8:00 PM ET.
