Competitors began arriving on Monday to start testing and tuning their cars for the weekend's championship races. Big fields in Spec Miata and 944 Spec will head the racing schedule come Saturday. Charles Buzzetti is one of the favorites that will be competing in 944 Spec with his No. 908/Precision Polishing/Jon Milledge Engineering/Porsche 944.

Buzzetti 944 "I ran my qualifying races at AAA Speedway, Willow Springs, Button Willow and Laguna Seca this season," Buzzetti said. "I will be racing in two classes this year in 944 Spec and PTD. This requires different tires, aerodynamics and lots of testing. In preparation for the NASA Championships I have installed a rebuilt head, new brakes, new shocks, a Lexan windshield, a new front fascia with a removable air dam as well as a thorough inspection of the car. I personally like Miller. It is a great track that promotes side-by-side racing due to its wide smooth surface. I have raced in the NASA Championships at Miller in 2009 and 2010. I won the 944 Spec Championships with a 32 car field in 2009 and I was fourth in GTS1. In 2010 I won the GTS1Championships and was third in 944 Spec. My plan is to always win and have fun doing it. I feel I have a great shot at being on the podium in both 944 Spec and PTD."

In the second year of the Spec Z category, David Dirks, 2010 944 Spec Champion, is hoping to drive his No. 76 Nissan/BFGoodrich/Nissan 350Z to a second Championships victory this weekend.

David Dirks Spec Z "Most of my qualifying races have been right here in Colorado, where we are fortunate to have several very good tracks," Dirks said. "These include High Plains Raceway, Pueblo Motorsports Park and Pikes Peak International Raceway. We took the time to get the car down to minimum weight, followed by corner-weighting and a good initial set-up for Miller. I love the high speed sweeping turns of Miller. It's smooth, wide and has adequate runoff in most corners. Overall, the facility is awesome, especially for a huge event like the NASA Championships. Definitely, one of my favorites! Plus the go-kart track is cool. I've raced there in the NASA Championships a couple of times, as well as in several regional races. Besides shooting for a good finish, my goals include corroborating with my fellow Spec Z racers from across the country, gathering data and figuring out what we can do to improve the series."

Alec Udell will be running his No. 16 Motorsports Development Group/Ford Mustang in AI this weekend. Udell is a pro racer looking for his first NASA Championships trophy.

Alex Udell Mustang "I've ran in the NASA Texas region in Spec Miata and raced in the Pirelli World Challenge series in the Mustang this season," Udell said. "We're making some adjustments to the suspension of the Mustang and switching over pieces from World Challenge trim to NASA spec. Miller is a fun course to race on, lots of high speed straights that lead into low speed turns, making for great passing zones. I raced at Miller in the Pirelli World Challenge Series in 2012. My goal for this weekend is to win the AI Class championship."

NASA's National Event Manager Will Faules has a week full of racing and fun planned for NASA Championships participants. SpeedcastTV.com is back to broadcast the racing action.

"We are proud to have SpeedcastTV.com with us again broadcasting all the racing action from Miller Motorsports Park free of charge," Faules said. "Their event coverage is excellent and this allows race fans, NASA members and family from across the country, and around the globe to tune in on the racing from Miller this weekend."

"We have a full schedule of on track racing planned, but we also mix in a lot of fun events as well," he continued. "We know that a lot of our drivers and families are a long way from home, some visiting Miller for the first time. On Wednesday night, we have a drivers welcome dinner/meeting. Friday evening we are having kart races Presented by Toyo Tires. Our manufacturer partners will be hosting dinners for competitors on different evenings. Although the racing is competitive, we also value the camaraderie of the sport as well."

The NASA Championships will be broadcasted on SpeedcastTV.com, use the link http://www.speedcasttv.com/NASA to view all the racing action from Miller Motorsports Park this weekend. Live steaming will begin on Sat., Sept. 7 at 11:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. MT and Sun. Sept. 8, 10:20 a.m. to 3:15 p.m. MT.

Miller Motorsports Park (Tooele, Utah) is located just 35 minutes east of downtown Salt Lake City. Miller Motorsports Park is a state-of-the-art road racing facility and is widely considered to be one of the finest road racing parks in North America. NASA competitors will be using the track's Outer Course which measures 3.048 miles long with 15 corners that will sure to be a challenge for the 300+ Championships competitors.
