Montoya Receives a Hispanic Heritage Award in D.C.

Juan Pablo Montoya, driver of the No. 42 Target Chevrolet SS, was honored last night by the Hispanic Heritage Foundation in Washington, D.C. The 26th annual Hispanic Heritage Awards took place at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and was a ceremony to celebrate Hispanic cultural pride, contributions and accomplishments. The awards were established in 1987 by President Ronald Regan to commemorate the creation of Hispanic Heritage Month. Since its creation, the awards honor top Latino leaders in various categories for their impact on America and the world. Montoya received an award for sports and was joined by the following honorees:

• Musical Group Los Tigres Del Norte, Legend Award
• Chef Jose Andres, Design Award presented by Capital One
• Superintendant Alberto Carvalho, Education Award presented by Target
• Voto Latino President Maria Teresa Kumar, Leadership Award presented by Southwest Airlines
• Actress and Singer Lucero, Vision Award presented by Hershey’s
• Actor/Director/Producer Diego Luna, Inspira Award, presenting the Youth Segment
• Nonprofit National Math and Science Initiative, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Award presented by ExxonMobil

Target was the presenting sponsor of the awards ceremony and the television broadcast. A one-hour special of the awards will be broadcast on MundoFOX on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 6:00 p.m. EST.
